Role: Headteacher Governor

My career spans thirty years in education, with twenty-one years in senior leadership and twenty years as Headteacher. I was seconded to Hook Junior School in January 2008 and successfully and rapidly took the school from ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’ in May 2008; since then, we have secured an ‘Outstanding’ grade in 2017 and a consecutive ‘Outstanding’ judgement in June 2023.

I began my career as a Newly Qualified Teacher at a school in Reading before teaching for four years in Munster, Germany. I then served as Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher at Charles Kingsley’s School in Eversley, before taking on headship of Long Sutton Primary School. In May 2008, I was appointed as Headteacher of Hook Junior School where I continue to work alongside a fantastic team and a supportive community, to ensure we maintain a high quality of education for every child.

In addition to my role at Hook Junior School, I am involved with supporting other schools with teaching, learning, assessment and supporting leadership development for senior leaders at all levels. I also inspect schools for Ofsted and have done so since 2015, which adds value to my role as Headteacher.

I am delighted and privileged to lead and work with the children, staff, governors and community of Hook Junior School to ensure that we deliver on our vision, are clear about our strategic direction and provide the best education for our children.
