The Remarkable Reading Challenge
On Friday 23rd January, the Year 6 Remarkable Reading Challenge was launched. This is a Hook Junior School competition which aims to challenge and develop young readers.
For this year's challenge, children have been asked to read one book from each of these six genres:
- Adventure
- Classics
- Horror, crime and mystery
- Poetry
- Science fiction
- Biographies
Each genre has several suggestions for texts which are available in the school library, plus some alternative choices which they can borrow from public libraries or add to their birthday list! Children who successfully complete the challenge will receive a certificate, their teacher and peer's celebrations and they can start all over again!
We have provided a list of books for children to choose from and tick off those they have read.
Years 3, 4 and 5 will soon have an opportunity to participate in the Remarkable Reading Challenge!
