Chris Bass

Parent Governor

Living happily in Hook since 2017, my eldest son currently attends Hook Junior School with his two brothers to follow over the next four years.

As a director in ethics and compliance for a global pharmaceutical company, I offer experience in strategic governance, transformation, risk management and investigations, together with skills in behavioural sciences, capability development, data analytics and performance coaching. I was previously a commissioned officer in HM Forces (Army), serving 13 years in a variety of locations at home and overseas. For fun, I enjoy the great outdoors and challenging pursuits, reading modern history, as well as a turn on the drums (electronic, so not to upset the neighbours!).

I am passionate about making a difference for our children and was delighted to be elected as a parent governor. I believe I can use perspectives from leadership roles across the private and public sectors, together with a parent’s outlook, for the benefit of our school. It is a privilege to partner the school community - children, teachers, staff and governors - in the pursuit of continued excellence.

Gareth Evans

Parent Governor

I am a father of 3 children and live in Hook. I work as part of the leadership team at HSBC Bank in the Corporate Banking division based in the Thames Valley. My day job and previous experience within the banking sector provides financial and commercial skills to the Governing Body.

I have previously held the position of Parent Governor for 5 years at a Primary School in the Reading area where my family previously lived. This position gave me a great deal of experience and appreciation for how a school is run and the challenges all schools face.

In my opinion, being a Governor is crucial to enhancing the positive partnership between the school and our community which in turn helps create a great environment for all the children at Hook Junior School to succeed.

Co-Opted Governor

My career spans over 10 years in education. Although this is my first senior leadership role, I have numerous years’ experience in leading all year groups in KS2 as well as driving maths standards at my previous school in Aldershot. I am extremely passionate, hardworking and dedicated, striving for excellence for all!

I am thrilled and honoured to begin my leadership journey at a highly respected and innovative school, working with children, staff, governors and the community of Hook Junior School to ensure we provide an inspiring curriculum where all children can learn and achieve.
