Accessibility

It is a requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that schools have an Accessibility Plan. The Equality Act 2010 replaced all existing equality legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act.

This means that schools cannot unlawfully discriminate against pupils on the grounds of sex, race, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation.

According to the Equality Act 2010 a person has a disability if:

  • He or she has a physical or mental impairment, and
  • The impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

The Senior Leadership Team and the Governing Body are responsible for ensuring the implementation and resourcing of the Plan and for reviewing the Plan.

We are committed to providing an accessible environment which values and includes all pupils, staff, parents and visitors regardless of their education, physical, sensory, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural needs.

The school will also remove or minimise any potential barriers to learning allowing all children to achieve and participate fully in school life. We will challenge negative attitudes about disability and accessibility through our culture of awareness, tolerance and inclusion.

Accessibility Summary

School premises are accessible for those with specific mobility needs. Parking for disabled badge holders is available in a designated parking bay, situated in front of the school reception. If you require assistance upon arrival we recommend that you contact the school office and a member of staff will accompany you into the building.

Entrances throuhgout the school building are sufficiently wide for wheelchair access and allow entry and exit without a significant change in level.

Multiple accessible toilets are available on site and each is fitted with an emergency alarm.

Written material can be provided in alternative formats or in languages other than English and if requireed this should be requested via the school office prior to your visit.
