Junior Road Safety Officers

Two children in school are nominated to become JRSOs (Junior Road Safety Officers) every year; one in Year 5 and one in Year 6.
These children visit a workshop in the autumn term, where they take part in activities to improve awareness of road safety in school, and then work together throughout the year to improve our school environment and promote road safety with the children.
In their role as JRSO's, children regularly raise awareness in assemblies and by running competitions focused on bike safety and 'being seen'. They maintain a notice board in school about road safety and also attend Christmas and Summer Fairs to sell reflective accessories. These activities are run independently by the JRSO's, sometimes with the help of a parent volunteer.
This year the JRSO's ran a slogan competition to get their friends thinking about road safety.
Emily of Year 5 was awarded third place with her slogan:
Our roads, our responsibility
Alex of Year 6 was awarded second place for his slogan:
Don't get hit, wear your Kit! Be safe around the road.
Lois and Amy from Year 6 were awarded first place for their slogan, which they also chose to illustrate and appears at the top of this page.
JRSO's say dress safe from head to toe!
The winning slogan by Lois and Amy will form part of the JRSO noticeboard.
