For their final production at Hook Junior School, this year's children from Year 6 performed four showings of their interpretation of J M Barrie's 'Peter Pan'.
Ever popular, this year's production by Year 6 children was performed four times for parents and other guests. The stage stands in front of Neverland Island, carefully painted by year six children and a number of parent volunteers and is flanked by blue seas with butterflies decorated by children from all the year 6 classes. Children have worked hard to make elements that complete the stage along with their props and costumes, supported by various staff in school and many varied contributions from parents.
Following the classic J M Barrie storyline, the tale of Peter Pan is told by the main players with supporting roles for each of their classmates. Sashini G summarised the play:
{gallery}gallery/peter-pan{/gallery}For four weeks, year 6 have worked exceptionally hard on their chosen production: Peter Pan. Each student took their role very seriously - no matter how big or small – and did their best to carry them out successfully and smoothly. They only had one dress rehearsal before their first performance to the year 2s and 3s which went extremely well.
After that, on Monday 4th July, they had their second performance – this time to the year 4s and 5s, and without any additional preparation. Thankfully, this one was perfect as well. The day after that were their first performances to the parents; both afternoon and evening shows were brilliant and ended in a light sprinkling of glitter and magnificent rounds of applause and overall, the performances were a great success and all the children enjoyed taking part.
