Year 3 have enjoyed a workshop with the Living Rainforest as part of their curriculum topic this term and to help them learn about the climate, creatures and cultures of the rainforest.

David M and Alexa B wrote this about their experience:

This week, we were lucky enough to have a visitor from the Living Rainforest in Berkshire to run some rainforest music workshops for all Year 3 students. Firstly, we were taken on a round the world trip to explore where rainforest lie and the effect this has on the climate. We then looked at the different cultures from these areas and listened to the type of music they like to play. We explored musical instruments from rainforests across the world and with these we represented sounds that rainforest tribes would make. We worked together as a class to make sounds of a thunder storm using a wide variety of instruments and were even lucky enough to produce and record our very own class song. It was a day we will never forget.

The Living Rainforest is a charitable trust that aims to improve the understanding of sustainable living by learning about the diverse ecosystems and cultures that make up the rainforest environment. Visitors to the Living Rainforest can experience native rainforest flora and fauna through three glasshouses.
