It’s the start of an exciting week for children in year 6 as they set off on their week long residential trip to Marchants Hill.

This week children from year six set off on their week long residential trip to Marchants Hill activity centre where they will enjoy a busy week of outdoor challenges and new experiences that will stretch their individual and team abilities.

Although the music room was filled with suitcases and bags of all sizes early on Monday morning, children had to contain their excitement until after lunch when coaches finally departed. The morning offered time for everyone to check they had the necessary items for a week of outdoor activities and understand how they will be expected to behave when representing the school at Marchants Hill. Children also took time to think about how they will be challenged individually and will need to work together in order to be successful in some of the challenges ahead.

After lunch at school, a parade of pupils and suitcases stretched across the main playground before being led out to the waiting coaches for the short journey ahead. A lively trip followed, filled with excited conversation about what lies ahead.

The first night is all about getting settled - familiarising yourself with your surroundings, finding out where you are sleeping and getting your bags to your room. Having been met by Marchants Hill staff when they arrived, children quickly identified some friendly faces that will be assisting them through the week. Lots of questions were answered - where are the toilets? what time is breakfast? will we get wet and muddy tomorrow?!

Tuesday is a full day of activities, starting just before 9AM; two activities before lunch and two in the afternoon.
