Our spring curriculum workshop, helping parents understand the curriculum being followed by their children, focused on the Growth Mindset and Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural themes.

Growth Mindset

Growth mindset is the belief that through hard work and effort greater results can be achieved. We explained the growth mindset concept and the links between mindset and achievement. Growth mindset is intrinsically linked to our School ethos and values and we aim to develop a growth mindset in children in order to help them achieve their full potential.

Through continual encouragement and support, we believe that establishing a growth mindset has the potential to improve a child's potential to achieve, and this is reflected in our delivery of the curriculum. We see the impact of this belief in the progression children make at school, both academically and personally.

Growth mindset can be developed beyond school with the application of several simple practices; praising effort, being a growth mindset role model and encouraging children to embrace a challenge.

The growth mindset theories, strategies and workshop activites are all included in our presentation slides . You may need to download Adobe PDF Reader to view this document.

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Learning (SMSC)

SMSC is an umbrella term for all of a school’s activities which develop children’s social, moral, spiritual and cultural development. Through the direct delivery of SMSC and its integration throughout our delivery of the curriculum, children learn to become self aware, consider others, their needs and their cultures. Among the broad range of SMSC themes, children learn about responsibility, English law and civil rights, democracy and the democratic process. Through frequent discussion of key SMSC themes, children's personal development is evident they grow and progress through each year group.

SMSC objectives and themes are explained in our presentation slides . You may need to download Adobe PDF Reader to view this document.
