Year 4 have been applying their understanding of volcanoes and the mountain environment to design and make an items of equipment for a mountaineer. Their learning event brings their designs to life.
Recently, we have been learning about volcanoes. As part of our topic, we were set the task of creating a piece of equipment to help Chris the mountaineer when climbing a volcano. We spent time in groups sharing ideas and designing our inventions.
Each team had one hour to create the equipment with recycled materials and an electrical circuit. We were able to invite our parents to assist us in making our inventions.
At the end of the session, we had the opportunity nominate the team we thought were most successful - not including our own, of course! This determined which teams were the winners. The names of the winning teams were: 'Hats down under' from 4BH, 'Reflective belt' from 4HW and 'The torch warner' from 4TC.
